Surf lessons in Playa de las Américas, Tenerife: 2 hours with a qualified instructor, group, semi-private or private. All levels.

Learn to surf in Tenerife: Playa de las Américas is one of the best places on the island to start, with waves almost all year and surf schools a few metres from the water. Almost everyone stands up on the board on day one.

Each surf lesson lasts 2 hours: half an hour of theory and warm-up on the sand and an hour and a half in the sea, with the instructor helping you catch your first waves. Choose a group lesson to meet people (up to 6 students per instructor), a semi-private lesson with your partner or friends, or a private lesson with the instructor all to yourself.

Includes board, wetsuit, qualified instructor and accident insurance. Group lessons from 13 or 15 depending on the school; children from 7 in semi-private or private lessons, and they must be able to swim. If the sea does not allow it, we move the lesson or refund you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience?

No. The lessons are for all levels and almost everyone stands up on the board on the first day. If you have surfed before, the instructor adapts the lesson to your level.

What is the minimum age?

In group lessons, from 13 or 15 depending on the school. Children from 7, in semi-private or private lessons, and they must be able to swim.

What is the difference between group, semi-private and private?

In a group you share the instructor with other students (up to 6 per instructor). Semi-private is for a small group of friends or family, and in a private lesson the instructor is with you alone. The more personal the lesson, the faster you progress.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, sun cream and water. The board, the wetsuit and the rest of the gear are included.

What if there are no waves or the weather is bad?

The lesson depends on the sea. If it cannot go ahead, we move it to another day or give you your money back.
