Teide by day: cable car to 3,555 metres, guided Teide Tour, the summit with a permit, the Observatory or a brunch with a view.
The Teide cable car climbs in eight minutes from the 2,356-metre base station to La Rambleta at 3,555 metres, a step away from Spain’s highest peak, with views of the other islands and the sea of clouds. Buy just the ticket, join the Teide Tour with transport and an official guide, with or without the cable car, have brunch before going up, take a guided visit to the Teide Observatory or, if you are fit, reach the summit with the special crater permit.
One hour at the upper station. With the crater permit (summit climb), as long as the route takes.
Not for the cable car. The summit climb is demanding: you walk at more than 3,500 metres, where the air is thin.
Children can, but because of the altitude it is not recommended for under-3s, pregnant women or people with heart or breathing problems.
In strong wind the cable car does not run. In that case the day is changed or your money is refunded.
At the meeting point closest to your hotel, in the south or the north depending on the tour. There may be a change of coach.
